چکیده

During the last few years motion analysis has developed into a major field of interest in image analysis and understanding . Considerable progress has been made as evidenced by the number of publications . However , most of these have been confined to the study of rigid body mot ion . Very few have addressed the issue of non-rigid body motion which poses many interesting and difficult problems . We propose a new technique for analyzing non -rigid body motion of closed boundary shapes that is based on the computation of skeletons at multiple resolu tions . This techn ique is used for analyzing the structural changes in the morphology of locomoting Iymphocytes and, in particular , of their pseudopods .

Dynamical Behavior of a Rigid Body with One Fixed Point (Gyroscope). Basic Concepts and Results. Open Problems: a Review

The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...

Combined Prospective Rigid-Body Motion Correction with Retrospective Non-Rigid Distortion Correction for EPI

Introduction: Prospective real-time motion correction, where the scan-plane orientation is dynamically updated to track with the subject's head during an MRI scan, is becoming increasingly popular (1-7). While these methods focus on compensating for bulk rigid-body motion, a secondary effect of head motion is non-rigid-body image distortion caused by changes in the effective shim within the bra...

Recovering Articulated Non-rigid Shapes, Motions and Kinematic Chains from Video

JINGYU YAN: Recovering Articulated Non-rigid Shapes, Motions and Kinematic Chains from Video. (Under the direction of Marc Pollefeys.) Recovering articulated shape and motion, especially human body motion, from video is a challenging problem with a wide range of applications in medical study, sport analysis and animation, etc. Previous work on articulated motion recovery generally requires prio...

The time to passage of biological and complex motion.

A significant part of human interactions occur with other human beings and not only with inanimate objects. It is important in everyday tasks to estimate the time it takes other people to reach (time to contact) or pass us (time to passage). Surprisingly, little is known about judging time to contact or time to passage of biological or other complex motions. In two experiments, rigid and non-ri...

COMPARISON BETWEEN MINIMUM AND NEAR MINIMUM TIME OPTIMAL CONTROL OF A FLEXIBLE SLEWING SPACECRAFT

In this paper, a minimum and near-minimum time optimal control laws are developed and compared for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The control commands are considered as typical bang-bang with multiple symmetrical switches, the time optimal control solution for the rigid-body mode is obtained as a bang-bang function and app...
